WebSep 13, 2024 · The 416 is a 305 head and will do the same thing but it will make it look like a 305 - 350 and I don't think you really want that ? do you. You can bore it to 4 inch and make it a 327 I have done many this way. The power pac heads have smaller valves and also flow less than the 305's (416 or 601) ....why would that be better? oldrelics, Jan 2, 2011 WebSep 5, 2009 · The 416 has a revised port design over the 601, and would probably be pretty good in stock form. Considering that most of the smogger 624s came with 1.72 intakes and REALLY small runners, the 1.84 intake and about 165cc runners, that is a mathematical improvement all by iteslf.

You will not have piston to valve interference with that camshaft, those heads and pop-up pistons.

WebAug 24, 2024 · You can fix that with thru porting. They need agressive porting. Don't be shy, but also keep the intake port flange opening to a 1205 gasket size. Many get carried away here. The chamber is more compact so the valves are more shrouded. So when going to a larger valve the chamber can benefit from some deshouding.
