Web24 Jun 2016 · The first adapter (The one that broke) has three wires (black, white, and red) going out which then connect to the laptop charger pin. The second adapter however, has three wires going out. I have read that an extra wire is used as some kind of a sensor. In another forum someone identified the sensor wire and left it out in the connection. Web5 Feb 2024 · Airmar makes a barrel shaped connector for splicing transducer cable wires that I used for the wind transducer cable. I found it at iMarine.com. I sure wouldn’t drill an exploratory hole through the compression post. Too easy to nick a wire that you weren’t planning on replacing. I’ll try to find some pics later this am. J jerryf609 . All the gal could say was to wait until the extension cable came available otherwise it would void my warranty. Been out of warranty for about a year now. Stranded wire is flexible, where solid core wire can bend, but not over and over. Don’t use solid core wire in any automotive application.

I would hesitate cutting that wire. The clam shells can be bought at any marine supply store and are about $3.00.
